Brigette Gomes
Originally hailing from Southwestern Ontario, Brigette originally moved away from home to attend the Leisure (a.k.a. Party & Dance) Degree program at the University of Ottawa. After a number of years, she hung up her party shoes to pursue her original plan of becoming a registered nurse. Despite being rejected by many colleges & universities before accepting a place at Western University in London, ON – she eventually found herself graduating with distinction and becoming a member of Sigma Theta Tau. After graduation she worked in the ICU at the Kingston General Hospital before moving back to her second home, the Ottawa Hospital. She has been a practicing Critical Care nurse for 5 years and has been enjoying all aspects of providing direct and indirect patient care as a study coordinator for the last 2 years. Brigette has an interest in knowledge translation, research education within a critical care setting, and how to kick a Dorito habit. While not at work, she enjoys pretending to snowboard; walking around with her husband and their dog-faced son, Homer; and sipping on a good Kentucky bourbon (in moderation, of course). You can still find her sauntering around in her party shoes on occasion.
