Damon Scales

Dr. Damon Scales is a Professor of Medicine (University of Toronto) and an Intensivist at Sunnybrook HSC.

Dr. Scales obtained his MD from the University of Toronto (UofT,1997). He then completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine (CCM) and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology. He is a Professor of Medicine (UofT) and an Intensivist at Sunnybrook HSC.

His active research programs include an RCT of prompt extubation versus usual care in patients with brain injury who are weaned to minimal ventilator settings (NEURO-ETT, NCT02920580); a prehospital RCT comparing early identification and treatment of sepsis by paramedics vs usual care (PITSTOP, NCT03068741); and an RCT of early versus delayed anticoagulant prophylaxis for patients with traumatic brain injury (PROTEST, NCT03559114).
