Ryan Hoiland

Ryan completed his Bachelor of Human Kinetics at UBC Okanagan in 2013. He subsequently undertook his graduate training at UBC Okanagan under the Supervision of Prof. Phil Ainslie, where he studied the regulation of cerebral blood flow, with a focus on physiologic responses in the setting of hypoxia. Following completion of his PhD, Ryan began a postdoctoral fellowship under the supervision of Drs. Don Griesdale and Myp Sekhon at Vancouver General Hospital researching the factors that govern cerebral oxygen delivery in the setting of post-cardiac arrest hypoxic ischemic brain injury. In addition, Ryan is also working under Dr. Chris West at UBC, with whom he is researching treatment strategies to reduce secondary hypoxic injury in the setting of traumatic spinal cord injury.
