Dr. Sangeeta Mehta is a Critical Care Physician and Respirologist at Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Internal Medicine training at the University of Toronto, and Respirology and Critical Care training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Dr. Sangeeta Mehta is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, and a Clinician Investigator in the Division of Respirology and Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care, University of Toronto. She is the Research Director of the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Mehta’s has published in the areas of Sedation administration in the ICU, Noninvasive Ventilation, the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and High Frequency Oscillation.
Dr. Mehta’s primary research focus is on the administration of sedation and analgesia, and the occurrence and risk factors for delirium in mechanically ventilated, critically ill patients; as well as sleep, psychological and cognitive morbidity following discharge from the ICU. Her sedation/delirium research programme has included intensivist and patient surveys, prospective national multi-center practice audits, a systematic review, and a recently published multi-center randomized controlled trial: SLEAP.
