We are thrilled to hear that Deborah Cook has been named an
Officer of the Order of Canada. Deborah has been the heart and soul of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and a large part of its brain, since we were founded a quarter of a century ago. She has pioneered scholarly research in areas where researchers have previously been reluctant to go, from research aiming to prevent harms to our vulnerable patients to end of life care.
Most importantly, she has generously mentored a generation of critical care researchers. Throughout the past 2 decades, she has maintained an unwavering and passionate dedication to using science to guide the best care of the most vulnerable patients in our health care system. This honor shines a light on her enormous contributions to global critical care, but reflects that light back on the Trials Group, whose culture and success derive so much from her engagement.
